During the summer months, Italy imposes additional driving bans for freight traffic. These restrictions can affect your shipments, particularly making Monday deliveries in July and August more difficult.
Below, we’ll briefly explain what changes during the summer period and how we work with you to plan ahead and avoid delays.
What changes during the Summer?
Due to the summer holiday season, Italy – as well as transit countries like Germany – enforces additional driving bans every year for trucks over 7.5 tons, from July 1 through August 31. In practice, this means:

Saturday driving bans are extended: Both Italy and Austria restrict truck traffic for nearly the entire day on Saturdays.

Sundays remain fully closed to freight traffic
Many businesses in Italy shut down for three weeks, leading to major peak moments in logistics.

What does this mean for your deliveries?
Since weekend departures are often restricted or only allowed late in the day, Monday deliveries during the summer months may not always be possible—or must leave earlier than usual. This may lead to:

Adjusted delivery times at the start of the week

Limited loading options in Italy early in the week, as we are still unloading

Fewer departures from the Netherlands at the end of the week

Longer transit times

Increased pressure on weekday capacity

No news from us? Then everything is running as you’re used to.
How do we handle this?
Our first priority is to arrange everything as smoothly as possible. If we expect this won’t be feasible, you can count on us to reach out and align on what is and isn’t possible. That way, we can still load and deliver on time, or discuss alternative options.
For example: if a Monday delivery is feasible, we’ll schedule it. If it’s not, we’ll coordinate a suitable alternative.
What do we ask from you?

Let us know about shipments as early as possible, including preferred loading and delivery dates

Consider possible longer transit times

Check internally whether Tuesday deliveries could also be suitable

Inform us in advance of any special opening hours in July or August
